Spicy Black Beans

So nice to have time for this blog again! Life got a little bananas there for a few months and I needed to take some time to get through some stuff but now I can get back to my fun little project!

The weather this spring in Toronto has also been bananas! It’s been all over the map temperature wise and we’ve had so much rain I was beginning to think that summer was going to miss us this year! Thankfully it’s warmed up, the sun is shinning and life is good.

Sweet & Spicy Pecans

I am in full on Sunday mode over here and I’m happy to report it’s been a super productive day! Sundays are my domestic day of the week where I do the bulk of my cleaning, laundry and food prep. I like to start the week all organized to keep me on track. I find this especially crucial if I’m doing any kind of elimination diet or cleanse. I know my weaknesses quite well and one is coming home from the gym after work, starving, and just grabbing whatever is near by to shove in my mouth to tide me over until dinner is ready. When I’m on a special food diet this is almost impossible. Plus a lot of those meals are more time consuming sometimes so I like to do as much as I can ahead.

Creamy Ranch Style Dip

Do you ever have those days where you feel like the universe is testing you? Well I have had 3 of those days in a row! After successfully completing a 60 day SIBO diet I was feeling amazing! I started to incorporate new foods and was doing great. Then I had a birthday and decided to indulge a little, heck I deserved it! WRONG! My body was not quite ready for my favourite veggie nachos and wine and revolted for 3 days! Ugh!

Tuna Salad

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much fish/seafood in my life as I have on this SIBO diet. I have been a┬ápescetarian (a vegetarian who eats some fish) for over 20 years. I maintain a mostly vegetarian diet with some fish and I do eat some dairy and eggs but not meat. Meat just does not agree with my system so I avoid it. I do enjoy some fish and seafood now and again, from sustainable and organic sources. I’m restricted from most grains and all beans and legumes right now and have been struggling to find allowed protein sources that keep me full, so I have increased my fish/seafood consumption.
